When you are in Barcelona you might find it a struggle to source activities for your children. Keeping the kids amused is a key challenge on any holiday and in Barcelona there are endless things for adults to experience but not so many for children.

Go to the beach
There are a number of pleasant beaches in Barcelona. The southernmost of these beaches, Platja de Nova Icaria, is the busiest and is filled with opportunities for you and your children to have hours of fun. Price is reasonable and a trip here will not break the bank
Look at the fish
Make friends with an eel or two. Check out L'Aqaurium – a sea world type experience Spanish style. Sharks gliding over your head are sure to send a shudder down your spine. This is one of Europe's largest aquariums – with an an 80 meter shark tunnel where you can mingle with families of the worlds most famous man eaters. There are over 11,000 fish with about a dozen sharks in this aquarium. There's also an interactive zone that is home to a family of Arctic penguins and a tank of rays that you watch close up. Not cheap but worth a visit and sure to create a day that you and your children will remember for years to come.
The Museu De La Xocolata is every chocolate lovers dream. There are hundreds of models made out of chocolate and educational sketches showing how the chocolate models are put together. The whole place is simply fascinating. You can see Winnie the Pooh and Christopher Robin made from chocolate. One downside – you have to pass the world's most enticing chocolate shop as you leave. Take your credit card! Children can also go on tours and take part in chocolate making sessions.
The Parc'D Attractions is a massive fun fair and theme park in one of Barcelona's outer districts. Among the top attractions are the seven minutes in hotel Krueger. This is a collection of horrors inhabited by actors playing Dracula, Hannibal Lector and other fantasies. The 1920s prop plane doing circuits is a classic for kids.
Cable cars over the bay
Take a trip on the Transbordador Aeri – this cable car strung across the harbour to Montjuic provides a bubble-eye view of the city. This is sure to amuse your children with the excitement of the cable car and the views will delight everyone.
