Donald Trump issued a warning against Kim Jong-un that, well, sounded a lot like something Kim Jong-un would say.
After news broke that U.S. intelligence officials believe North Korea has produced a miniaturized nuclear warhead, Trump warned Pyongyang not to threaten the United States.
“They will be met with fire and fury like the world has never seen,” he said Tuesday, which … is terrifying.
The world has seen plenty of fire and fury, including the atomic bombings at Hiroshima and Nagasaki, the 72nd anniversaries of which are being observed this week.
With Seoul, a city of around 10 million people, only 35 miles from the North Korean border, any inflammatory language risks millions of lives. Tokyo is also frequently mentioned as a North Korean target.
Pyongyang doesn’t need to develop nuclear missiles that can hit Honolulu and Los Angeles to kill a horrifying number of people, although it’s working toward that.
It’s a sensitive situation that Trump, obviously, doesn’t seem well-equipped for — and people are understandably scared.
There were also jokes, which are a natural reaction to things that seem too terrible to be real. And because sometimes you have to laugh so you don’t cry.
Guys, remember when the biggest American threat to North Korea was that Seth Rogen/James Franco movie. Good times.

No joke: I read Trump’s statement on North Korea and thought it was a North Korean statement on Trump.

When Trump threatens “fire and fury” with North Korea, we are one Scaramucci away from a nuclear apocalypse.

And, of course, people brought up not one but two old Trump tweets.
The global warming we should be worried about is the global warming caused by NUCLEAR WEAPONS in the hands of crazy or incompetent leaders!

Be prepared, there is a small chance that our horrendous leadership could unknowingly lead us into World War III.

Stay safe out there, everybody.
