One of the most beautiful and captivating cities in the world, Barcelona is a must see destination.
A great way to get to Barcelona is to take a scenic drive (although you will need more time to get there, obviously), but the trip will be very rewarding.
Before you leave you will need to ensure your car insurance cover is with you and that includes your breakdown cover and travel insurance policies, because you never know what could be just around the corner.
Driving to Barcelona from the UK is without a doubt one of the most scenic routes in Europe and it could not be easier. Firstly you will need to catch the ferry across the channel to France and once you arrive you can either make your way to Lille for some sightseeing (Citadel of Lille, Botanical Gardens of Lille, Musee des Beaux-Arts, etc) or you could continue straight to Paris.
After Paris you will be continuing further south and the most advisable route would be via Orleans and Bourges. You could, once past Bourges, head for Montpellier for a spot of lunch and from Montpellier you will head towards Beziers and ultimately Barcelona.
It is a good idea to book your accommodation before your arrival considering the drive will take roughly 14 hours. It is recommended that you undertake the trip over two days to ensure you do not just race to get there, but you also have the opportunity to take in some of the wonderful sights along the way.
Once settled into your hotel there are a myriad of activities to keep your entertained in Barcelona, whether you love art galleries (of which there are plenty) or architecture, you will definitely find what you are looking for. Once you have taken in all the sights in and around the city during the day it is advisable that you go out at night to sample the legendary nightlife the city has to offer.
Remember to be careful with your possessions in the city and keep an eye out for street criminals (which there unfortunately are), but remember to keep your UK car insurance policy safe, as well as your travel insurance document, because one unforeseen incident could spoil your trip if you do not take proper precautions.
